Close the entrance to Netto carpark on Austurvegur and convert it to a pedestrian foortpath and change Austurvegur to a one-way street. There are two alternative entrances to this carpark,
The entrance to the carpark to Netto on Austurvegur can be very busy and is also the main path used by pedestrians to enter Netto and the the town centre. However pedestrians must navigate the crossing of the carpark entrance where cars can come from three directions and there is no pedestrian crossing. Redirecting the traffic to the an alternative entrance would simplify the flow of traffic and increase safety of pedestrians walking along Austurvegur.
Converting Austurvegur to one way would also increase safety of pedestrians using the pedestrian crossing, going from Hamraborg to Netto, as the view is often obstructed by parked cars
